Dungarees cut from medium-weight, charcoal grey linen.  Easy fit for everyday wear, Wren dungarees are as happy in the kitchen as they are in the garden. And everywhere in between.

Attention to detail is key: deep pockets for hands and phones, tailored bib cut for our feminine form and adjustable neck strap in homage to the original Robyn apron.

Those beautiful buttons? They’re crafted from spent mussel shells.

The back strap loop? Elasticated so you can squat, bend and move with ease.

The iconic red Bird label? Yup, still there.

And plenty of well thought out pockets, just as you asked, (please note, pockets are as shown on the denim Wrens rather than a bib pocket in the linen Wren photo – you asked, we delivered!)

“I love the brass eyelet details on the Wrens. The lack of buckles is refreshing because especially on linen dungarees, buckles can often feel too clunky and even dig in at your shoulders. I love the pockets on the back, which is very Carpenter style and always flattering for a ladies bum.”    Michelle Lee, York

The Wren dungarees are made in Plymouth by Makers HQ, a social enterprise housed in the former Jaeger factory, established to reignite fashion and textiles manufacturing in the UK.  See our Makers Page for more details.

Care

Linen is a strong fabric that becomes softer with wear and wash. Always wash your linen Wrens inside out to protect the buttons and prevent the surface fibres from breaking. Wash at 30 degrees centigrade or on a cool setting.

Linen is a very absorbent fabric, so for a better wash try not to fill the washing machine too full, to allow your Wrens to soak up the water properly. Avoid tumble drying and iron inside out.

Sizing Guide

  • Length
  • Bib width
  • Entire width
  • Hip width
  • Waist width

Small UK 6-8 / Medium UK 10-12 / Large UK 14-16 / Larger UK 18

You'll find the garment measurements

here.

These are the dimensions for the dungarees themselves, rather than the body that they're designed to fit. The joy of the Wrens is in the loose cut - they are so darn comfy. A good idea is to compare the measurements to a similar, much loved garment you already have to get a real life comparison.

For reference, here I am on Instagram wearing the denim Medium Wrens Medium. I'm a UK size 10 so a Medium is a pretty good fit for me with plenty of room to move. Drop me a line if you could do extra advice on sizing.

Why Pre-order?

Here at Bird, we’re sustainably minded.  By cutting to order throughout the year, we minimise waste and give landfill the swerve. How exciting is it to know that your pair of Wren dungarees has been cut especially for you?

Here at Bird we care for the environment and encourage you to too

Our aprons and the environment are happier when they're washed on a cool wash

We recommend hanging our aprons on the line, rather than tumble drying
